SEP

Conversions

Flying Time Aviation has the largest and most varied fleet based at Shoreham Airport, and can therefore offer Single Engine Piston (SEP) type conversion courses onto a wide variety of aircraft.

When you complete your PPL you may consider converting onto another aircraft for speed, comfort, space, or just fancy something different. Most check-outs take 2 - 5 hours, or slightly longer if you are converting to Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC). There is also extra ground school tuition available should you require it on all check outs. After your check out we ask that you fly every 28 days on type for currency requirement.

Flying Time SEP Type Conversion Options

Single Engine Piston (SEP) Conversion courses are available for all our single engine Diamond Star DA40 , Piper PA28 , Cessna 172 and 152 aircraft.

In particular the conversion to the Diesel powered (Theilart Centurion 2.0 135hp) Diamond DA 40 FADEC single lever operation is essential.

Conversion courses are based on an "as required" basis but will include full aircraft handling and approach/landing configurations.

Conversion to our Garmin 1000 DA40 aircraft will also require a Garmin G1000™ EFIS Course.

Flying Time SEP Aircraft Fleet

Some aircraft you may like to convert onto include:

Flying Time SEP Aircraft Fleet
DA40 Diamond Star

These new aircraft are ideal for self-fly hiring. They cruise at 120kts, with a spacious interior. We are expanding our fleet of these, and plan to have all fitted with  Garmin 1000 EFIS avionics. These are a lovely aircraft to fly and a must for all those who enjoy PA28s!

Piper Warrior II PA28

The Piper Warrior has a tried and tested design, proving a favourite for many pilots. They cruise at 100kts, and can quite happily carry 3 people. The Warriors provide stability in the cruise as well as having nice handling characteristics.

Cessna 172

The Millenium edition Cessna 172SP is for all those high wing lovers. The aircraft feature full leather interior, with four seats, and a 180hp engine. The 172 is very capable of flying with four people in the aircraft. This must be tried by those who fly 152s.

Cessna 152

The workhorse of many school fleets, and for students on a tight budget, the ideal training aircraft. Our Cessna 152 now has GPS and is one of the nicest aircraft on the airport.

Our Private Hire Aircraft page has the full list of our aircraft available in the south east of England.
