Evening workshops for IFR flight planning

Flight planning is key to a successful flight; a poorly prepared flight will only lead to a very poor pilot performance.

 A lot of pilots do not realise how important it is to plan and understand a flight route prior to flying it. All routes, SIDs, STARs, runways, approaches (to mention a few) have surprises some of which are unpleasant and proper planning is truly the only way to avoid such surprises.

The evening workshops take place every third Wednesday of each month at a cost of £15 per person. Each session lasts approximately 3 hours and start at 1730 at our Shoreham flight training school.

The workshops offer a great opportunity to learn and practice all aspect of planning including; performance, mass and balance, regulations, airways, weather, NOTAMs, flight plans, STARs and SIDs.

It is also very useful for candidates enrolled in other courses, qualified pilots wishing to expand their knowledge or brush up on flight planning.

The sessions are interactive, there are 2 qualified instructors for each session which will assist and explain any grey or black areas you might have on any of the aspects covered.

Approach bans and EU Ops will be explained at length.
